We'd like to pass on some more exciting news a widow recently received.

Dale, I just want to let all of you know that I got my Widows benefits this month. I am so excited. I got full benefits and I also got the back pay. The only reason I got the back pay was because when my husband died I did go and put in for it even though I knew I couldn`t get it because we had not taken out the insurance. David`s heart condition was only put on the Agent Orange list about a year before I came to see you. You have done a wonderful job helping me and I want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart. My life will be so much easier now. I am 73 and not able to work like I did when David first passed away over 8 years ago. I tell every one that I know to go to you if they need VA help.
Thanks again. Ruth M.

We just received a couple of more emails we would like to share with you.

My name is Saundra B., and I came to your group in December of last year for help filing my claim. I am a single mother of three children and a veteran. I just recently received a 50% rating and the VA is now giving me and my family a wonderful check every month and it is amazing. I have less stress and it is such a relief for me and my kids knowing that we have this to help us. I want to say thank you to you and your friends for all you have done for us. With all my heart I thank you. Saundra B.

Dale and Gang, Just a few comments, and a thank you for continuing to send me the weekly newsletter. In just a few days the corner will be receiving my check for $51.00. I finally got notice, and have started to receive $102.00 per month from the VA, as this would not be the case had I not come down and applied for widow's benefits. I feel it's only fair to give half back each month to my veterans, and the numerous people that you guys so willingly help.

Using the bus system now, yesterday one of the drivers in training picked me up from my Dr's. office, and on the trip home he heard me mention your group to a passenger. He later told me that he served in Iraq, and through Veterans Corner got an 80% rating. Because of this he is spreading the word about the work you guys do. As we continued to talk, I made him aware of the widow's program and asked that he also spread the word about the work Shirley and her girls do to assist the widows. Sincerely and Respectfully, Linda B.

(Shirley and other volunteers specialize in assisting widows with the application process for widows' benefits. The donations we receive help us provide our free service to the Veterans, their widows, and families who are in need)

Here is another comment we received and wanted to pass it on to you. We hope you enjoy reading these as much as we all do - enjoy!

My brother-in-law, Jack B., a Vietnam veteran from Ada, just received word that he was approved at 30%. He first came to the Veterans' Corner for help with his initial application in April at the encouragement of my dad, Aster S., a WWII veteran who first came to the Veterans' Corner for help with his initial application in February. Thanks so much for all you do for veterans! I don't know of any other place where so much excellent help is given so unselfishly! God Bless all the volunteers of the Veterans' Corner!! --Paula C.

Each week, Dale Graham, the founder of the Veterans Corner, and his volunteers assist hundreds of veterans from all over the United States. Some arrive in person while others seek assistance through e-mail. The suggestions and comments we receive are very heart-warming and welcomed. Here is one we would like to share with you:

I am a 69 year old Vietnam Vet. I became acquainted with your organization by referral from a resident in Little Axe. At the encouragement of members of my family and others I finally decided to apply for benefits. I guess like many of my peers, I did not want anything to do with the VA, just go about my life and forget about things that happened and live with what was left. Thanks to the members of your organization, I may be eligible to receive some compensation that I was not expecting.

But more than that. My entire life I have be able to provide for myself and my family some way or some how. For the first time I could not do that and felt ashamed to ask for help from someone I did not know. My favorite bible verse is Matt. 7:7 so I decided to put it into action and ask for help in paying my taxes on my trailer so that I would not become homeless. I expected a stick in the eye but was rewarded with a check to help me pay my bill.

As I write this, I have a tears in my eyes and a heart full of gratitude for your organizations generosity.

THANK YOU
Billie S.

We would like to share another comment we received all the way from Boston, Massachusetts.

Bravo, Veteran's Corner! I was doing a little bragging at work the other day about you guys. A lady with whom I work and I were having a bit of a political discussion (go figure) and she brought up veteran's affairs and the terrible state of how we treat our soldiers. After agreeing with her about how it's shameful that we neglect those who've served, I brought up your website and showed her how you guys work to get folks what's coming to them. She said, like I've said all along, that you should write up a concise and easy to understand manual so others can do the same in their communities. I told her that I've been pestering you about that for years now. Anyway, she was beside herself at how amazing the work you guys do is. I agreed! Once again, well done! We want to pass on another comment from a Veteran we assisted. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

To who may be looking for help, I was informed of the "Veterans Corner" quite some time before going to Goldsby and seeing for myself , just who and what this was about. My first visit was surprising at the many veterans and their families seeking help for their rightful benefits from their service to our country. After checking in and finding a place to sit, I began to look around at how many volunteers were there to assist ANYONE who came for guidance. They had a breakfast bar with fresh coffee and donuts, and I believe biscuits and gravy while your waiting, My name was called in a while, and the person that helped me was most gracious and very Helpful. My reasons for posting these commits are to those Veterans who believes no one cares as I did, Go to Goldsby on thursday morning and discover as many others, that these GREAT PATRIOTS there will go the EXTRA mile to help you get every BENEFIT you deserve. They have helped me GREATLY, and they will HELP YOU!!!! - William (Pat) P.

Each Thursday we do our best to see as many people as time allows. This past Thursday we were able to assist 138 Veterans. We just ask that you please be patient and allow plenty of time so that our volunteers can serve you and the many Veterans who show up for assistance. Below is a comment we received from a Veteran for the service we provided to him - at no charge - our service is always FREE. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

I want to thank you for the professional way the center handled all who were there in a well organized way. I have my hearing test complete and am waiting for reply from the V.A. so I can return to see you ladies and gentlemen. Thanks - Kermitt (Rod) B.

This past Saturday, May 7, 2011 was a day that a lot of us will never forget. Harold Harvell's Goldsby Veterans Memorial was expanded with two additional monuments - The POW and MIA / KIA monuments - see photos by clicking on the photos tab - We have included some feedback we have received from some who attended this event - The Goldsby Annual May Festival was followed and was a success - Thanks to Goldsby's Mayor Cindy Scott and all of the people who were involved -

A very PROUD moment for Veterans Corner in Goldsby, OK, to have the Air Force flyover of the largest bomber in the World, the B-52! Timing was perfect with our celebration of the expansion of the Veterans Memorial. Flying at 1000 ft. and making some noise, it was a tremendous visit to our little Town, one we shall never forget! Harold Harvell - Goldsby, OK.

Dale: We want to thank you for all your hard work and commitment in putting together the celebration today at Goldsby for all the vets. We were there for 4 hours and it was absolutely a wonderful event in every way..Such a beautiful day, so many different activities for adults as well as children which made for a family event and all the booths and folks who passed out water and other refreshments were in such fine form..We thoroughly enjoyed it and thank you and all your helpers for a day of which you can be so proud? You honored VETS in a great way.. Thank you.....Lavan B., Wife and Daughter?Paoli, Ok.

I wanted to share with you that I met Barbara Barb this past week at a time that I was overwhelmed with my new involvement with the VA system. It was pure luck parking our RV next to hers and Barbara noticing my license plate frame: Veterans: She's Navy / He's Air Force. I honestly can say, I never expected the outcome of this chance encounter!

Within minutes of introducing ourselves, Barbara shared her info and involvement with Veterans.
Barbara has been an immense help with not only encouraging me to file for VA Compensation but advised me with the necessary forms and valuable information!

You are very fortunate to have Barbara as part of your organization.
I want to publicly Thank Barbara for her help as well as extend my gratitude to all of you that are assisting Veterans!
By the way, we are in California and maybe some day, our travels will bring us to Oklahoma.
